Samuel (Sam) Torvend, Ph.D. (Historical Theology/History of Christianity), Saint Louis University, St. Louis; MO.; M.A. (in Theology/Liturgical and Sacramental Studies), Aquinas Institute of Theology, Dubuque, IA; M.Div., Wartburg Seminary/Schools of Theology in Dubuque, IA; St. John’s University School of Theology, Collegeville, MN study in Jerusalem, Israel (with Bar-Ilan University and the Ecole Biblique); B.A., History, Pacific Lutheran University, Tacoma, WA. Sam is the Chair of the Department of Religion, Pacific Lutheran University, and has taught at Seattle University, Aquinas Institute of Theology, St. Louis, MO; University of St. Thomas School of Divinity, St. Paul, MN. Sam was ordained to the priesthood in the Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Dominican Order in the Roman Catholic Church. He has taught courses dealing with liturgy, preaching, social justice, the environment, theology, and Christian history.
